PORTAGE TOWNSHIP | Two teens face criminal charges after police said they entered several cars Saturday morning.

Authorities were called about 4:45 a.m. to the area of Greendale Drive and Long Run Road for two men taking items from cars.

An officer reported he spotted John Fredrick, 18, walking along Millport Drive. Police said he was wearing blue surgical gloves. When police asked him for identification, he reached into his pockets and a wallet, which did not belong to him, fell out.

Police said his pockets were bulging with items taken from nearby cars.

Fredrick told police he was with a friend. Police talked to the friend later in the morning, who admitted his involvement in the car break-ins.

Police said Fredrick was arrested and charged with three counts of theft, four counts of unauthorized entry into a vehicle and minor consumption. Police are requesting the prosecutor charge the friend with the same charges.
