VALPARAISO | Valparaisoian, Michelle Maynard once wrote in her blog, “I have a dream. Not a spectacular one that will change the world. Just a dream. I desperately want to be in a room full of people that suddenly join hands and start singing the "Welcome Christmas" song from the end of the "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". If this happens, I will cry. Fah Who For-aze, Dah who dor-aze Welcome Christmas. Come this way...”
When it came time to plan, it was quite clear
Precisely what proposal Michelle would love dear.
Orlando, the beaux and I, her sister named Carolyn
Put thoughts to thinks and just started planning
Central Park was the place Orlando’s proposal would be
Grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and me.
“We shall dress up in tutus, fun hats, and lights,
This proposal will be a fun, unforgettable night!”
We gathered on the stage in Central Park at Seven
There were 58 of us, which is way more than eleven!
Michelle and Orlando turned the corner to my left
The surprised look on Michelle’s face I will never forget!
“Welcome Christmas” by Seuss was the song that we sang
We stood in a circle, Hand in hand, and side to side we swang.
After the song, Orlando dropped to one knee,
Saying, “Please, Michelle Will You Marry Me?”
Tears blurred my vision, “That’s my sister!” I thought.
As the crowd of loved ones cheered and whoop whooped a lot!
This is the best proposal as far as proposals go.
Welcome to the family, we love to have you, Orlando!
