VALPARAISO | Police believe a man was intoxicated Sunday when he crashed his motorcycle.

Valparaiso police were called to the 2800 block of Cumberland Avenue for a motorcycle crash about 2:45 a.m.

A witness told police he and a friend came on the scene and found a motorcycle in the grass. When they didn't see anyone around, they began looking for the driver and eventually found Elliott McCullough, 29, of Valparaiso.

Police said McCullough had an open head wound and blood on his face, arms, legs, shirt and pants.

He was taken to Porter hospital, where police said he was uncooperative with doctors and nurses trying to provide care and was largely unaware of his injuries.

Police said he tried to get up and leave a number of times and officers believe the man thought he was at work, because he reportedly kept asking for managers and coworkers.

McCullough was found with a 0.12 percent blood alcohol content and faces drunken driving charges, police said.
