VALPARAISO | Valparaiso Police are investigating an argument between two brothers that landed one in the hospital and the other in jail Thursday evening.

Valparaiso Police were called to a disturbance at 5:58 p.m. Thursday at 4703 Andover Court. Both brothers live at that address.

While en route, officers were told that a subject had been stabbed as a result of the disturbance, according to a Valparaiso Police Department press release.

Officers arrived on scene and learned that two brothers had gotten into an argument and one of the brothers had stabbed the other brother with a knife.

The victim was identified as Jeremy Higgins, 25. He was transported to Porter Regional Hospital and treated for is injures, which are not life threatening.

His brother, Joshua Higgins, 29, told police he stabbed his brother in self-defense during a disturbance between the two.

Joshua Higgins was arrested for felony battery and was transported to the Porter County Jail.
