VALPARAISO | On August 23, Avalon Springs Health Campus spent an evening “Under the Big Top”! We began the evening at Happy hour at 3:30 pm with a Magic Show. We then proceeded to a dinner consisting of corn dogs, onion rings, fried green beans, and much more! At 5 pm the petting zoo started up with goats, bunnies, a bearded dragon, and dogs. We also had an old fashioned street band organ playing outdoors with the petting zoo. At 5:30 Monkeys and More started letting the residents feed and pet a monkey and at 6 pm a chimpanzee showed off her skills! At 6:30, Paul Vogrin, a singer and unicycle/juggler, started his show to finish off the night. Throughout the evening, we had Slugbugz and Mickey (clowns), walking about doing tricks and making balloon animals. We had carnival games where residents and family members could play and win prizes, too. We also were making lemon shake-ups, cotton candy, sno cones, and elephant ears! It was definitely a night the residents and their loved ones will remember.
