VALPARAISO | Boy Scout Troop 906, based in Valparaiso, and sponsored by the First United Methodist Church at 103 Franklin Street, will mark its 70th year in February. To celebrate the occasion, the troop will host a celebration following the 11 a.m. Scout Sunday Service on Feb. 9 at the church, 103 Franklin St.
All Scouts, leaders, parents, and supporters, both past and present, are invited to attend the Scout Sunday Service, with cupcakes and coffee to follow.
This active, boy-led troop is under the care of Scoutmaster Steve Christenson and Assistant Scoutmasters Mark Addis, Dale Kroeger, Tom Rowland and Erich Walls. Currently the troop has 25 Scouts and has had 69 Scouts achieve Eagle Rank. The regular scouting activities include camping, merit badge work and service projects.
The troop has started compiling a history of the troop to include any pictures, memories or stories from scouts involved with Troop 906 over the past 70 years.
Also, there will be a special 70 year patch available for $5 for any interested person.
