Porter County sheriff’s police were called about 8:25 p.m. Thursday night to home in the 600 West block of County Road 300 North.

Police said one of the residents had last been in the home about 11 a.m.

When the homeowner and his wife returned to the home, they found a door leading from the garage into the house was open.

According to police, the homeowner went inside and found items on the floor and a television moved.

He discovered his front door was forced open. The deadbolt still was in the locked position and the door was forced open, causing damage to the door frame and drywall.

Police said the bedrooms had been ransacked.

A 38-inch television and gold watch were taken.

Also missing were two shotguns, a rifle, a 410-45 Long Colt, two hand guns, three types of prescription medication, several types of ammunition and a large amount of cash.

Officers did not find any fingerprints, and police have no suspects.
