VALPARAISO | Dan Navarro will bring his signature folk/rock style to the stage Sunday at Chicago Street Theatre.
The concert, which is part of the One Night Jam Acoustic Concert Series, starts at 7 p.m. at the theater at 154 Chicago St.
Navarro is making a return to the stage after playing the series once before with his partner, the late Eric Lowen. The duo played together for more than 20 years before Lowen was forced to retire from performing due to ALS.
Lowen and Navarro achieved national acclaim in 1984 when Pat Benatar recorded their song, “We Belong,” which went on to become a Billboard hit.
Since Lowen passed away, Navarro has continued as a solo artist, paying tribute to the music he created with his longtime partner while also adding new songs to his repertoire.
“Any time Dan appears on our stage, things get unpredictable and just a little crazy,” series organizer Paul Brain said. “Early on he started playing with the set, with props, with costumes. Every Navarro show at Chicago Street Theatre is truly a night to remember.”
Navarro also has enjoyed success as a voiceover actor and musician, lending his talents to movies including “Happy Feet,” “The Lorax,” “Rio,” and “Envy,” TV shows such as "American Dad," "Family Guy" and "Melrose Place" and a wide variety of commercials.
Tickets for the show are $25. To purchase tickets or for more information, call (219) 464-1636, ext. 1, or visit www.chicagostreet.org.
