New Jersey-based bus transportation company Coach USA said Friday it has completed the acquisition of a regional bus transit operator Lakefront Lines.
Coach USA said it will continue intercity bus service to and from cities in Indiana such as Gary, South Bend and Valparaiso; Chicago, Buffalo; N.Y.; and five locations in Ohio. The Gary Coach USA bus terminal is at 2101 W. 37th Ave. and the Valparaiso terminal is at Broadway Cafe at 1805 E. Morthland Drive.
Some Lakefront tickets will be sold using the pricing model available at www.megabus.com, with some one-way fares as low as $1.50, which includes the booking fee. Non-discounted tickets will still be available from their driver and local ticket agents. Wi-Fi will also be available on all Lakefront Lines buses.
Coach USA bought Lakefront Lines and several other transit operators from Coach America, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this year. Lakefront Lines has 175 vehicles in its fleet. The United Kingdom-based Stagecoach Group owns Coach USA.
