VALPARAISO | The Porter County Community Foundation presented a Community Grant check to Dayspring Women’s Center to help the nonprofit organization provide counseling and support to women who are homeless or at risk of being homeless.

Dayspring opened its doors last fall to provide at-risk women a safe place during the day.

“We commend the volunteers who saw a need and created a place and a program to help more women transition out of homelessness and become self-sustaining,” said Barb Young, president of the Porter County Community Foundation. “We are proud to be a part of a collaborative effort to address homelessness and grateful to our donors who enable us to invest in the good work of nonprofit organizations such as Dayspring.”

Last year the Porter County Community Foundation distributed more than $1.8 million in grants to nonprofit organizations and scholarships to local students. The Foundation inspires giving and engages the community to improve lives in Porter County. To learn more or to make a gift today, contact the Foundation at (219) 465-.0294 or visit
