VALPARAISO | Valparaiso resident Courtney Crozier has won NBC’s online contest to appear in a Subway commercial.
Courtney Crozier and her mother, Marci Crozier, former competitors and current ambassadors for “The Biggest Loser,” were among nine contestants in the running to represent the popular television show by appearing in a commercial with Subway icon Jared and the season 14 winner, Danni Allen, of Wheeling, Ill.
Toward the end of Monday’s grand finale, with Courtney Crozier at his side, Jared announced she had won. Jared said Courtney Crozier was from his home state of Indiana.
Crozier said Jared, who lives in Indianapolis, told her he began losing weight while a student at Indiana University in Bloomington.
“I am really excited to see where it takes me from here,” she said.
“It definitely wasn’t something I was expecting in my life. I’ve learned through this whole process to try to embrace everything, and this is the next chapter. I am really excited to see where it goes.”
Crozier said the commercial will be shot sometime during April.
“I am so grateful and blessed and thankful for everybody in Northwest Indiana who voted for me and supported me, no matter what, through all the ups and downs through everything,” she said.
Marci Crozier, the regional director of marketing and sales for Franciscan Omni Health and Fitness in Schererville, supported her daughter to win this opportunity.
“She is going to represent Northwest Indiana with pride and represent all the contestants on 'The Biggest Loser,' Marci Crozier said. “She can represent people who have had great success with life changes and those who still struggle. She has experienced both.”
The mother-daughter team competed together on season 11 of “The Biggest Loser.” Courtney Crozier, a student and owner of Valparaiso’s YoAmazing Yogurt Shoppe, weighed 435 pounds when she decided to make lifestyle changes and lose weight. She lost 112 pounds before appearing on the show and another 110 during the show.
