VALPARAISO | Three former girlfriends of a Center Township resident are expected to testify against him this week in what is described as one of Porter County's most disturbing sex crime cases involving children.

Ryan Schroeder, 27, is accused, in part, with convincing at least two of the women to molest or take nude photos or videos of children and forward the images to him while he was serving in the U.S. Navy.

Schroeder also spoke about molesting children with one of the women and asked a mother of one of the women for nude photographs and to have sex, according to a glimpse of the evidence that was revealed during a hearing in August.

The women are also expected to testify Schroeder asked them to engage in numerous sexual activities, including stealing underwear, taking photographs and videos in public bathrooms and showers, and filming themselves having sex with other men.

Porter Circuit Court Judge Mary Harper, who will preside over this week's trial, tossed out most of a request by the defense to quash testimony relating to offenses not charged in this case.

The judge ruled the evidence is related to the 23 felony charges facing Schroeder.

Schroeder faces six counts of aiding in child molesting, seven counts of aiding in child exploitation, one count of aiding in theft, seven counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of aiding in voyeurism.

One of the women scheduled to testify this week is Tara Tryon, 22, of Wanatah. Tryon herself faces six counts of child molesting and seven counts of child exploitation from allegations she abused a 3-year-old Chesterton boy she was babysitting at Schroeder's request.

Authorities alleged Tryon then forwarded him photos and video of the acts.

Tryon is cooperating with prosecutors without a plea agreement for her own criminal case, but her trial was delayed until after the outcome of Schroeder's case.

Also on the witness list is Adrienne Holley Harris, who began serving a 25-year sentence in September after pleading guilty to a federal count to producing child pornography stemming from accusations she took numerous nude photographs of her molesting a 1-year-old girl and sent the images to Schroeder.

Harris, who was also in the Navy, has been transferred from federal prison to the Porter County jail where she is awaiting her turn to testify.

Schroeder had also been involved several years with a teenager. The girl told investigators that Schroeder asked her to take photographs of other women, including her mother, police said.
