PORTER COUNTY | This weekend local police agencies will be joining forces to work roaming drunken driving patrols.
Officers from Valparaiso, Porter County Sheriff’s Department, Hebron and Kouts police departments will be joining together to target motorists driving under the influence. Officers will target the Valparaiso and South Porter County areas, according to police.
The Porter County Drunk Driving Task Force and Indiana Governor’s Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving will be providing grant funds for the officers to work the extra patrols.
Officers will be targeting this weekend due to the St. Patrick's Day weekend, according to police. Motorists who observe erratic driving are encouraged to dial 911 on their cellphones and report their observations.
Police remind local residents to plan ahead when celebrating by having a designated driver.
