On Saturday, several employees from Golden Tech and their families donated their time to help at the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers. In the weeks leading up to the food drive, Golden Tech also collected non-perishable food items.
“This was my first time volunteering and I had a lot of fun helping people who don’t have enough to eat. I helped recycle paper bags and I already know a lot about recycling from school,” said 4-year-old Avrie Kwasny.
Each year, residents leave non-perishable food items by their mailbox prior to normal mail delivery time for their letter carriers to pick up during their mail rounds. On the day of the food drive, volunteers unload and organize truckloads filled with donations brought to the post office by the postal carriers. Once organized, the boxes of food are loaded back onto the trucks and delivered to five local food pantries.
“One of Golden Tech’s core values is Goodwill and we believe in helping our community and giving back. This food drive was a terrific opportunity to help take care of our neighbors,” said Anne Brandt, Golden Tech marketing manager.
