VALPARAISO | A Center Township man pleaded guilty to a felony count of driving drunk on June 21, 2011, and causing the death of a motorcyclist along Ind. 49 at County Road 600 South in Morgan Township.
David Corbett, 61, faces up to four years behind bars if the proposed plea agreement is accepted by Porter Superior Court Judge Roger Bradford. Sentencing is set for Jan. 3.
Corbett agreed to undergo substance abuse treatment and take part in a victim impact panel if given probation, according to court documents.
Corbett reportedly told officers he was on his way home from a job in Michigan and drank beer before running a stop sign on westbound 600 West.
He struck and killed Howard Schwartz, 61, of Rockville.
