VALPARAISO | HealthLinc is participating in The American Dental Association’s Give Kids a Smile Day on Feb. 18.
Due to special funding, HealthLinc will be offering free dental services — exams, cleanings, sealants and education — to uninsured children 18 and younger.
HealthLinc’s dental professionals will provide these services at HealthLinc’s Valparaiso and Michigan City locations. Appointments are recommended and are available between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
In Mishawaka, patients can call the clinic for more information on participating providers in the area. Knox patients are invited to schedule with the Valparaiso or Michigan City locations.
Spanish language interpreters are available. Individuals with Medicaid and other insurance coverage should call and ask about other appointment options.
Give Kids a Smile Day is an initiative of the American Dental Association to provide access to dental services for children who otherwise might go without care.
“We are excited to participate in this event. Research shows that oral health is directly related to overall health and that good oral health starts in childhood," said Beth Wrobel, HealthLinc CEO. "Unfortunately, getting the proper care can be a challenge, especially for children who are uninsured or whose families struggle to find affordable care. This special day is one small step toward helping all children get the care they need to lead healthy lives.”
Appointments for dental exams for uninsured children are available at the following locations:
• HealthLinc Valparaiso, 454 S. college Ave., (219) 462-7173
• HealthLinc Michigan City, 710 Franklin St., (219) 872-6200.
While this day provides priority to uninsured individuals, HealthLinc provides dental care for anyone with or without insurance, regardless of their ability to pay. All individuals are encouraged to call HealthLinc to schedule services throughout the year. Expanded hours and transportation assistance or referrals are available.
