Hell's Half Acre 1

Headstones mark the graves of men from Col. Isaac Suman's 9th Indiana Infantry at the Stones River National Battlefield in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Suman suffered Confederate gunshot wounds near this location, also known as Hell's Half Acre, but survived. He went on to become mayor of Valparaiso after the war.
