VALPARAISO | Hilltop Neighborhood House got a makeover last month, thanks to 75 volunteers brought together by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Represented were the Valparaiso University football team, Morgan Township National Honors Society, the Valparaiso High School Vikettes, Hilltop staff and Board members and members of Thrivent. Everyone worked together to paint the entire building and turn six cement pillars into a rainbow of brightly colored crayons for all to see.

Michelle Michaels, of Thrivent, served as the events coordinator.

"We have approximately 75 people coming and going here today to help out," she said. "We are really thankful that Papa Johns and Family Express are helping us out by donating pizza, water and donuts for all the workers."

Hilltop Neighborhood House serves more than 100 children in its early childhood and after school programs. For 18 years, Hilltop has been providing services to children and their families, which also include a food pantry, summer food program and adult education services.
