VALPARAISO | Food, clothing and personal items are being collected in Porter County to be sent to victims of Monday's tornado in Moore, Okla.

The items will be delivered to the Woodward Red Cross office near Oklahoma City.

Items will be collected 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Sunday at the Chesterton Kmart, 750 Indian Boundary Road.

Items also will be collected 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Sunday at the Valparaiso VFW, 705 Roosevelt Road.

Requested items include tooth paste and tooth brushes, shampoo and cream rinse, hand sanitizers, female products, hand lotion, toilet paper, paper towels, sponges, baby wipes, baby lotion, cotton swabs, work gloves, towels, trash bags, bottled water, diapers, wash cloths, bath soap, dishwashing soap, detergent, bleach and razors.

Also, blankets and pillows, dog food, cat food, kitty litter, leashes and collars, hand wipes, ear plugs, juice boxes, and non-perishable food items will be collected.

Reliable Transportation is donating the truck, fuel and driver, and Sterling Transport is donating the trailer.
