VALPARAISO | The Jano Concert on the Square returns Saturday to the Porter County Courthouse lawn.
The festival is free to the public and offers complimentary food samplings from 11 downtown restaurants, live music, top chef demonstrations and children's activities.
Attractions for this year’s Jano Concerts on the Square include Confessions of a Chef on the Square, Picasso on the Square, a moonwalk and food samples from downtown restaurants.
Confessions of a Chef will kick off the festival at 4 p.m. It will feature the downtown's top chefs as they demonstrate their secrets and culinary skills.
Downtown restaurants will serve complimentary food samplings until 5. Coming early assures the opportunity to try the complimentary servings from all 11 restaurants.
Live music and children’s activities will run from 4:30 to 6.
The popular Picasso on the Square allows children to demonstrate their artistic skills by creating colored chalk art on the sidewalks around the square.
“Our goal of the Jano Concerts on the Square is to create win-win situations for our citizens, business community and charities. While providing entertainment and fellowship for our community, our festivals create appreciation and loyalty to the downtown,” said Tim Daly, who serves as the emcee.
“It is uncommon to find a festival that offers complimentary food, live music and unique events, such as the Picasso on the Square and Confessions of a Chef,” said Jim “Jano” Janesheski.
