The meeting includes a meeting, a $4,000 vacation prize giveaway, and a musical performance by country singer/songwriter Levi Riggs.
The meeting is open to all members. The meeting will be held at the Porter County Expo Center, 215 E. Division Road, Valparaiso. It begins at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m.
“As a member of Kankakee Valley REMC, our members have a direct voice in how their cooperative operates. The annual meeting provides the opportunity for our members to vote for their directors representing them on the board and also learn about the success and challenges that their cooperative is facing,” CEO Dennis Weiss said in a press release.
The annual meeting is a family event providing a meal, entertainment for all ages, informative booths staffed by cooperative employees, high voltage safety demonstration and prizes. The grand prize of the evening is a $4,000 vacation voucher. Previous winners have traveled to France and have taken a Disney cruise.
The meeting portion of the event will feature speeches by the REMC officials. Topics to be covered will include the successes of the cooperative for the 2013 year and a discussion on legislative regulations that will potentially affect the electric industry and rates. Throughout the evening, members can vote for their fellow members running for a board director position. At the end of the meeting, two directors will be elected to the board for a three-year term.
Country music singer Levi Riggs will perform. Riggs has opened for acts such as The Band Perry, Jason Aldean and Travis Tritt.
“Annual meeting is an important day of the year for your cooperative. It is a day that we look forward to seeing our seasoned members and also meeting our new members. We hope you will join your directors, staff and employees for this fun and educational evening,” said Weiss.
Kankakee Valley REMC serves about 18,000 members throughout portions of Starke, Pulaski, Porter, Lake, Marshall, St. Joseph and LaPorte counties.
