BOONE GROVE | Last month members of the Kent's Run 5K race committee along with representatives from Walgreens, presented a check in the amount of $42,000 to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The money for this donation was the result of the successful sixth annual Kent's Run 5K last May. Walgreens is the presenting sponsor for Kent's Run.
At the check presentation were Amy Kwas, executive director of the Indiana chapter of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Tom Magurany and Wanda Marsh, representatives from local Walgreens stores, and Pam Ribordy, Dan Ribordy, and Reggie Flesvig, Kent's Run 5K race committee members.
Over the past six years, Kent's Run has raised more than $200,000 for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In 2007, this race was established to celebrate the life of Kent Ribordy, a Boone Grove freshman who lost a brief battle with leukemia.
The seventh annual Kent's Run 5K will be held on May 24 at Boone Grove Middle School. For more information, visit www.KentsRun.com or follow on Facebook (Kent's Run 5K) or Twitter (KentsRun).
