VALPARAISO | Pleas of not guilty were entered Tuesday on behalf of local attorney Clark Holesinger, who is charged with stealing $1.64 million while working for four related local businesses.
Holesinger, 52, of Valparaiso, faces four Class C felony counts of theft and a Class D felony count of theft. Each C felony carries a potential sentence of two to eight years behind bars, while the potential penalty for a D felony is six months to three years.
A trial was scheduled for July 28, with preliminary hearings April 29 and June 10 before Porter Circuit Court Judge Mary Harper.
Holesinger is accused of stealing $817,963 from North Star Stone Inc., where he had been hired to calculate and pay the company's taxes, according to charging information.
He is also accused of stealing $233,411 from RBF Island Investment LLC, $215,407 from ITF LLC, and $371,736 from Meridor LLC, according to charging information.
A civil suit has been filed in the case.
