VALPARAISO | The Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County will help mark the 2013 America Recycles Day in partnership with Barnes & Noble bookstore with a free story time and puppet show for children at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Valparaiso store, 150 Silhavy Road.

Abe Paluch, district school educator, will read “The Lorax” by Dr. Seuss and talk to children about what they can do to help the earth.

He will be joined by puppet and district mascot Glen the Garbologist to entertain children ages prekindergarten through fourth grade.

“It’s always great to celebrate America Recycles Day with the community,” Paluch said. “Children love the story of the Lorax, and appearances by Glen are always a hit.”

Paluch, known as Mr. Abe to students, brings the district’s environmental education programs to schools throughout Porter County.

The Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County is a government agency that promotes environmental stewardship through education programs, waste reduction services and other outreach programs.
