VALPARAISO | A Center Township man was sentenced Friday to nearly 11 years of probation after pleading guilty to two counts involving child pornography.

Ari Spector, 47, pleaded guilty to felony counts of child exploitation and possessing child pornography.

Porter Superior Court Judge Roger Bradford accepted a plea agreement calling for 11 years behind bars with all but time served to be spent on formal probation.

Spector is also to continue therapy and register as a sex offender.

Bradford approved the transfer of Spector's probation to Illinois.

Spector served seven days in jail and was not in custody Monday.

He was charged in April 2011 after police responded to an anonymous tip. Officers found a number of images showing prepubescent children on Spector's personal computer, police said.

Spector attempted early last year to have the evidence thrown out of court by arguing it was obtained through an illegal search.

His attorneys said police accessed Spector's email account before obtaining a search warrant. Police then obtained the warrant to seize two laptops and a hard drive from his home, according to his attorneys.
