HAMMOND | A federal civil complaint was filed Wednesday by a former inmate at the Porter County Jail who says he did not receive proper medical care for a spider bite.
Jason Napier filed the suit against Porter County Sheriff Dave Lain and medical staff at the jail.
In the amended complaint, Napier claims he was bitten on the leg by a brown recluse spider June 2, 2010.
The poor medical treatment he received at the jail left him with extensive pain and other leg problems, according to the suit.
Porter County police spokesman Sgt. Larry LaFlower declined to comment on the pending litigation.
