VALPARAISO | Artist Doris Myers, of Wheatfield, will be featured at The Village Gallery Monday through Aug. 22. A “Meet the Artist” reception will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public at Pines Village Retirement Communities, 3303 Pines Village Circle.
Myers holds a BS from Valparaiso University, and an MA from Ball State University. A lifelong student, she has worked in a variety of media, including ceramics (she is a skilled potter), sculpture, printmaking, textiles, photography and more, but always returns to her first love, painting. Equally fluent in watercolor, oil and acrylic, she presents works in this exhibit that are only a glimpse of the prolific body of work she has produced for over 65 years.
Retiring after 23 years as an art educator in public schools, Myers continues as a professional artist and educator giving lectures, demonstrations and workshops in a variety of media, including painting, pottery and silk painting.
The gallery is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. There is no admission charge.
