The Spell Bowl team at Northview Elementary School in Valparaiso was one of just two in the state to achieve perfect scores in Thursday’s statewide contest.

Northview students spelled all 56 words correctly, making them state champs of the Red Class.

Elementary schools across the state competed simultaneously Thursday at regional sites. Scores were tabulated and schools learned Friday how they fared in their class, which is based on school size.

Here are the teams from Northwest Indiana that earned State Top 10 recognition and their scores:
