VALPARAISO | St. Paul School will hold Oktoberfest from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the school campus, 1755 W. Harrison Boulevard. The event is for the whole family
Proceeds from the event will benefit the school which has a diverse student body of more than 350 children spanning kindergarten through eighth grade.
Admission is free. For $10 children can enjoy unlimited fun in the Gnome Zone which will feature a petting zoo, bounce haus, 60-foot inflated obstacle course, giant slide, traditional festival games, cupcake walk and a German track for Hot Wheels cars made by students at Valparaiso University’s German House. In addition, there will be hayrides, a biergarten, a pumpkin carving contest, live music by Jay Fox and the Bavarian Showtime Band, a Lakeshore PAWS’ pet adoption event, face painting, German-inspired food from Valpo Vienna’s and Ben’s Pretzels, and arts and crafts vendors. There will also be yodeling.
During the first hour of the event, middle school students from the area will exhibit their skills by competing in a root beer stein relay race, pumpkin spitting contest and pumpkin pie eating contest.
