CHESTERTON | Indiana Dunes State Park, National Lakeshore and Town of Porter will hold fireworks on the lakefront. The event is from 5 to 11 tonight with food merchants and a live rock concert. Cost is gate admission to the park. Music and food begin at 6 and fireworks at 9:15 p.m.

HEBRON | Fireworks are planned for dusk on Wednesday at Hebron High School, 509 Main St. The Fourth of July parade steps off at 10 a.m. Thursday from Hebron High School and will travel north to Country Square Plaza.

PORTAGE | The annual Fourth of July parade steps off at 11 a.m. Thursday from Willowcreek Middle School. It will proceed down Willowcreek Road to Lute Road. There will be a festival at Trumble Field, at Willowcreek Middle School with food vendors, inflatables. Gate opens at 5 p.m. The band Mr. Right starts at 6:30 and will play until 9. Fireworks at dusk.

PORTER | Porter's midnight parade steps off at 11:59 p.m. from Sexton Street and proceeds to Hawthorne Park. Family Fourth Fest is from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Hawthorne Park, 500 Ackerman Drive. Pancake breakfast by the Chesterton Lions Club is 7 to 11:30 a.m. There will be a parade through Porter beginning at 9 a.m., starting at Yost School and ending at the park. Turtle registration is at 10 a.m. with the turtle derby at 11 a.m. and sponsored by the Chesterton Lions Club. There will be Karaoke by Billy from 6 to 7 p.m. with live music from 7 to close. Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m.

VALPARAISO | City of Valparaiso will celebrate Independence Day from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, 1600 Roosevelt Road. The event will include the posting of the colors, a reading of the Declaration of Independence and live music by The Crawpuppies. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Fireworks begin at dark. Event is free.
