VALPARAISO | Paul Sur Buick GMC employees have been collecting staff donations weekly benefiting 500 Turkeys, a fundraiser that provides local families in need with Thanksgiving meals.
As an incentive to participate, all employees who donated a minimum of $5 each week were allowed to wear jeans to work on Fridays during the month of November. “This is a great, fun way for our dealership to give back to those in need in our community,” said Mike Sur, president and owner of Paul Sur Buick GMC in Valparaiso. “Our community is what keeps us going, and we are honored to support a great cause that feeds families during the holidays.”
The dealership raised $586 for 500 Turkeys and presented a check to 500 Turkeys representative Jeni Bolton. “One of my favorite things about 500 Turkeys is that our community is stepping up and helping their neighbors, co-workers, friends, family members or strangers by giving donations, time or prayer,” said Bolton. “It was so fun to receive the "BIG" check from Paul Sur! We are just a grass roots ministry that loves to help people in need. It's people like Mike Sur and his staff that make 500 Turkeys possible and fun!” This was the first time 500 Turkeys has received a monetary donation like this.
Families being served by 500 Turkeys will receive a 10-12 pound turkey, roasting pans and other food items for a complete Thanksgiving meal. Paul Sur’s donation will be used to purchase the food items that are included in each family’s gift box. The gift boxes are being distributed this weekend, November 23 and 24.
