VALPARAISO | Porter County Aging and Community Services will begin taking appointments for the Energy Assistance program on Monday and start seeing applicants on Nov. 6.
Energy Assistance is an income-eligible program as well as a program to help seniors and individuals with disabilities. When participants qualify for a determined amount, the payment is electronically paid to the appropriate energy company. Seniors and people with disabilities who were eligible last year will automatically receive applications through the mail.
PCACS Executive Director Bruce Lindner said applicants should first call to make an appointment and discuss with a program coordinator what documents are needed to complete the process.
“As the energy assistance program opens up, we are ready to handle all of our clients,” he said. “If you are not sure what to bring, please call ahead of time so you are ready for your appointment.”
Appointments may be scheduled by calling PCACS at (219) 464-9736.
