VALPARAISO | More than 200 vendors will be setting up shop Saturday morning at the Porter County Expo Center for The Times Ultimate Indoor Garage Sale.
In its fifth year, the event features a variety of vendors and individuals from across the region turning their unwanted treasures into prized possessions for thousands of visitors.
Katie Dorsey, marketing coordinator for The Times, said bargain hunters will find three halls full of treasures when the doors open Saturday morning.
"This year, all of our booths are taken. We've been sold out since the first week of March," Dorsey said. "We have a lot of people who've rented booths every year."
The Ultimate Indoor Garage Sale began in 2007 with 165 booths at the Expo Center and has grown steadily each year, often with a waiting list for people wanting to sell their goods.
Each of the booths features unique items, like vintage glassware, costume jewelry, antiques, fishing tackle, collectible books and tools. Numerous booths are dedicated to baby clothes and toys, sporting goods, sunglasses and designer purses. The roster also includes a number of estate sales.
Dorsey said each year more than 5,000 residents from across the Calumet Region and South Suburbs attend the event, many getting in line early Saturday to scope out the best bargains and prized finds.
Doors at the Expo Center open at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and general admission is $2. A special VIP hour begins at 7:30 a.m., with $10 tickets available at the door or printable online at nwi.com/garagesale.
