VALPARAISO | Police said a drunken teenager was arrested for flashing a group of children playing outside their home.

Valparaiso police were called to a home in the 800 block of Cyrus Street about 6:30 p.m. Thursday where a woman said her children, ages 4 through 9, were outside playing by the sidewalk when a teenager exposed himself to the children.

The woman said the boy walked up to the group, said "Hey kids! Look at this!" then exposed himself.

Police said the flasher fled the area before officers arrived, but one of the kids recognized the boy. Officers went to his home, interviewed the 14-year-old and believed he had been drinking.

A portable breath test showed the boy had a 0.11 blood alcohol content, police said. He was taken into custody, then transported to Porter hospital for evaluation due to his intoxication.

After being released, he was taken to the Porter County Juvenile Detention Center. Police said he will face a magistrate for alleged public indecency and minor consumption of alcohol.
