VALPARAISO | Police are investigating the death of a 7-week-old boy Tuesday, but said there are no obvious signs of trauma.

Emergency officials responded to a call at 11:26 a.m. from the 2900 block of Winchester Drive of an infant not breathing, police said.

The infant was transported to Porter Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Porter County Coroner Chuck Harris said Wednesday morning an autopsy was under way, which is required by law in the death of anyone under the age of 3.

"At this time, there does not seem to be any signs of abuse," he said.
