UNION TOWNSHIP | Porter County sheriff's police are asking for help in the investigation of the death of a 17-year-old boy Tuesday night.

Police were called to 420 Sturgeon Road about 5 p.m. for a 17-year-old boy lying in the road unconscious.

Cody Riffett, of 420 Sturgeon Road, was found by police actively seizing. He was taken to Porter Regional Hospital, where he went into cardiac arrest and never regained consciousness. He was later pronounced dead.

Porter County sheriff's detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding Riffett's death, according to a news release issued Wednesday by the department. There is evidence drugs may have contributed to the situation, according to the release.

Anyone with information is asked to call Capt. Jeff Biggs at (219) 477-3141.
