VALPARAISO | Police are investigating the Thursday morning robbery of a Centier Bank branch in one of the city's busiest shopping areas.

According to Valparaiso police, shortly after 11 a.m., a man walked into Centier Bank on LaPorte Avenue at Silhavy Road and handed a teller a note demanding cash. Police said the man implied he had a weapon on him.

The man left the building with an undetermined amount of cash and was last seen running from the bank in a northeastern direction, investigators said.

Officers describe the suspect, who remains at-large, as a white male, around 35 years old and about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, wearing dark clothing a blue stocking cap and white gloves.

Anyone with information on the suspect or the robbery is asked to call the Valparaiso Police Department at (219) 462-2135.
