VALPARAISO | A Valparaiso man was arrested when police found marijuana in a baby stroller case in the man's apartment, authorities said.

Police were called to his apartment in the 1800 block of Monticello Park Drive about 1:20 p.m. Friday to investigate a disturbance.

Jonathan Weaver, 20, told police his 16-year-old girlfriend struck him. Police said Weaver had swelling around his eye and scratches on his face.

Police said they could smell marijuana in the apartment and were granted permission to search it. According to reports, a police dog discovered marijuana hidden the a baby stroller case.

Weaver was arrested on a marijuana possession charge. His 16-year-old girlfriend was arrested a charged with domestic battery, police said.

Police said she resisted officers as she was taken into custody — at one point wrapping her legs around a railing outside the apartment, which forced her and an officer to fall to the ground.
