UNION TOWNSHIP | A Union Township woman was arrested after police said she hid her boyfriend from police.
Viera Marjovov, 26, was charged with possession of a hypodermic needle, possession of paraphernalia and false reporting.
Porter County police on Tuesday went to a home in the 300 block of Raven Court to serve a search warrant for Robert Kenstavicius.
According to police, officers could see Kenstavicius inside the house.
When they knocked on the door, the lights in the house were turned off and he left the room.
When police entered the home, Marjovov came out of a bedroom. She told police Kenstavicius was not there.
Police, with the help of a police dog, searched the home, but did not find Kenstavicius.
Police searched in the the room where Marjovov had been and discovered the window open and the screen torn.
Police said Kenstavicius escaped through that window.
Officers said they found hypodermic needles and spoons with burn marks on them, which are commonly used when injecting heroin.
