CENTER TOWNSHIP | A 21-year-old Valparaiso woman was taken into custody Wednesday morning after a man found her drunk and passed out in his wife's car, according to county police.

The man, of the 1400 block of Beargrass Court, told police he was alarmed to find Amanda Hale, of nearby Maumee Drive, passed out at 5:45 a.m. in the unlocked car.

Police said they had to yell several times before Hale woke up. She was so intoxicated she could not exit on her own and had to be pulled from the vehicle, police said. A test showed she had a blood alcohol content of 0.19, police said.

Hale became argumentative, insisting she was in her friend's car and did nothing wrong, police said.

She faces misdemeanor counts of public intoxication and unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle.
