VALPARAISO | The Porter County Community Foundation recently awarded over $87,000 in grants to 11 local nonprofit organizations. The first round recipients of 2013 Community Fund grants are: Duneland Family YMCA, Family & Youth Services Bureau, Shirley Heinze Land Trust, H. E. Kelly Respite House, Mental Health America of Porter County, Neighbors’ Educational Opportunities, NorthShore Health Centers, Opportunity Enterprises, Parents as Teachers of Porter County, Rebuilding Together – Portage and Westchester Neighborhood Food Pantry.

“We are fortunate to have so many generous friends and neighbors who make it possible for the Foundation to provide grants to support the important work of our nonprofit partners,” said Barb Young, Foundation President. “This collaborative investment in our community helps build a stronger Porter County for all.” Last year, the Foundation was able to provide more than $1.8 million in grants, investing in critical services for individuals and families throughout Porter County.

The Foundation inspires giving and engages the community to improve lives in Porter County now and forever. To learn more or to make a donation to any of the Foundation’s charitable funds, visit online at www.portercountyfoundation.org.
