Police clock man at 101 mph

PLEASANT TOWNSHIP | A Kouts man was arrested Tuesday evening after a Porter County police officer clocked him driving 101 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Jack Greenboam, 21, 610 Sunset Drive, Kouts, was stopped by police near 575 East County Road 600 South at 9:17 p.m. Tuesday.

Greenboam allegedly told the officer he didn't know how fast he was going, but that it was "very, very fast" and he was on his way to pick up a friend to go to a bar.

Instead, Greenboam, who is also on probation from a recent narcotics arrest, was transported to Porter County Jail.

Man reports theft from bar, car

VALPARAISO | A Pleasant Township man reported to Valparaiso police Tuesday evening that someone had taken his coat and car keys from a local bar early Sunday morning and then apparently entered his car, ransacked it and took numerous items.

The man said he left his coat on a chair and his car keys on a counter when he went to the restroom at Duffy Place, 1154 Axe Ave., early Sunday morning. He later noticed the coat and keys missing and when he went to his car, saw the door open. Missing was a checkbook, medication and a cell phone.

Package stolen from front door

VALPARAISO | A resident of the 800 block of Institute Street reported to police on Tuesday that a package delivered to his home was missing.

The man told police he ordered items March 19 and received an email from the company Tuesday asking if he liked the products. The man checked with the U.S. Post Office who confirmed delivery of the package to his front porch on Saturday morning. The man told police he was at home at the time of the delivery, but did not see it when he left later that day.
