Family reports dog stolen from Pine Township home

PINE TOWNSHIP | A resident of the 4000 block of U.S. 12 reported to Porter County Sheriff's police that someone stole his dog.

The man made the report just before 9 p.m. Tuesday.

He told police when he and his wife left the home he had chained his beagle/Rottweiler mix at the back door and left the door open for the dog. A second door, along with the front door were locked.

When they returned home, they found the kitchen lights on and the door between the back door and kitchen open. The dog also missing.

There appeared to be no forced entry and nothing else was missing from the home.

Computer stolen from driveway at Center Township residence

CENTER TOWNSHIP | A resident of the 300 block of Kimrich Circle reported to police Wednesday morning that his son's laptop computer was stolen from his driveway.

The man said his son was waiting outside to be picked up and had numerous bags laying on the driveway. The son went inside for just a moment and when he returned he found one of the bags, which included the laptop and clothing, was missing from the driveway.

The incident happened on Monday. The laptop was valued at $200.

Gun, holster reported stolen from truck in Porter Twp.

PORTER TOWNSHIP | A resident of the 200 block of County Road 675 South reported to police Wednesday evening that a gun had been stolen from his pickup truck.

The man said he put the pistol which was inside a pant holster, in his truck on Sunday and had parked the truck in his driveway. The truck was locked. He said he noticed on Wednesday, when he went to remove the gun, that it was missing.

The gun and holster were valued at $456.
