Vandalism in plaza restroom leads to M'ville man's arrest
VALPARAISO | A Merrillville man was arrested late Monday night for spray painting phrases on the wall of the men's restroom at Central Park Plaza.
Adero Kelly, 18, was charged with criminal mischief.
A Porter County Sheriff's department officer discovered Kelly in the park's restroom just before 11:30 p.m. when the officer was closing up the park.
Kelly was spray painting the walls with phases such as "AK the philosopher" and "what does life to u mean," according to police reports.
Kelly allegedly told police he was bored and admitted it was a "stupid decision."
Damage was estimated at less than $250.
Fair thefts include cellphone, wallet dropped by juvenile
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP | Two Porter County residents reported thefts of items Sunday night while they attended the Porter County Fair.
A Valparaiso juvenile reported to police Sunday night that he had dropped his iPhone and wallet after getting off a ride. He told police a man picked up the items and refused to give them back to the boy. The man then left the midway. The cellphone was valued at $325 and the boy also lost $200 in cash in the incident.
A Valparaiso woman also reported that someone took $25 from her unlocked vehicle and damaged the gear shifter while she was at the fair.
Fight in gym parking lot leads to Hebron woman's arrest
HEBRON | A 20-year-old Hebron woman was arrested Saturday, accused of battering another woman in a shopping center parking lot.
Kesandra Simpson, of 3869 Kingsway Drive, was charged with battery and transported to the Porter County Jail.
Police were dispatched to the parking lot of a gym at 822 County Square Plaza for a verbal disturbance. Before police arrived, the argument had become physical, according to a police report.
Police allege Simpson struck a female victim multiple times with open and closed hands and fists, pulled her hair and placed her in a headlock.
The battered woman was transported to Porter Regional Hospital complaining of neck and head pains.
