Luke's Car Wash in Valparaiso burglary discovered Monday
VALPARAISO | Police on Monday were called to at Luke’s Car Wash 460 W. Morthland Drive for a reported burglary.
An employee opening the business discovered by burglary and called authorities just after 7 a.m.
Valparaiso police said an undetermined amount of cash was taken from the business.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
Footprints in snow lead cops to teen driver after car crash
VALPARAISO | A Valparaiso man was arrested after investigators tracked him from the car he allegedly crashed to a home on U.S. 30.
Joseph Dado, 19, of Valparaiso, was arrested and faces a charge of minor consumption of alcohol.
Porter County Sheriff's Department officers were called to the 1300 block of Sturdy Road where a resident told authorities a teen driver crashed his car into a ditch and wanted go inside the man's house.
Investigators said they followed fresh footprints in the snow to a home in the 2900 block of east U.S. 30.
A woman who lived there told authorities repeatedly she was not aware of anyone coming into her home, and would not consent to a search of her home. Officers said a child joined the woman a the door and began to whisper with the woman. According to police, the woman told the child, "just go get him."
Dado then came to the door. He allegedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.14 percent.
Investigators requested the prosecutor's office charge the woman with false informing.
