VALPARAISO | More than 360 people are homeless in Porter County, and 148 of them are children, according to Caroline Shook, chief executive officer of Housing Opportunities. To help those struggling with homelessness, the Porter County Community Foundation has introduced Porter County GIVE Day. On this one day only – Nov. 8, 2012 -- gifts to 17 organizations that address homelessness or provide shelter services will receive matching funds through a pool of $55,000 from generous sponsors.
Here’s how to help:
- On one day only -- Nov. 8 (from 12:01 am to 11:59 pm!) give online at portercountygiveday.org to qualify for matching funds.
- You choose the organization(s) you wish to help.
- You may also give in person 8 am to 5 pm at The Times, 1111 Glendale Blvd. in Valparaiso.
