Police arrest man with no pants at Valpo apartment
VALPARAISO | Family members who left their apartment about 5:30 p.m. Thanksgiving Day returned about six hours later to find a man wearing no pants inside.
Timothy Stephens, 60, of Valparaiso, was arrested on a burglary charge, a Class C felony, police said.
Residents of the apartment in the 450 block of South Franklin Street noticed things out of place outside the apartment, and one of the residents walked in to find someone’s clothes in their living room, police said.
He left the apartment and had another resident call police. The residents told police they could see through a window someone walking around inside.
When an officer arrived, the door to the apartment opened.
The officer drew his weapon on Stephens, who was wearing no pants but had a Christmas stocking on one foot.
Police said Stephens claimed he lived there and also said he knew the landlord. But he didn’t correctly identify the landlord or the man actually lived there, police said.
Stephens was taken to jail, and the Christmas stocking was returned to the residents.
