Rise & Shine Seminar

PORTAGE | The Portage Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a presentation by Linda Gurgel, outreach specialist for Indiana Attorney General's office at Portage Holiday Inn Express, 2323 Willowcreek Road. Gurgel will discuss the importance of protecting personal information and preventing ID theft; the latest scams and techniques used by fraudsters via phone, email and direct mail; how to request and review a credit report and how to report anything fraudulent; how to freeze credit; and procedures for reporting frauds, scams, abuse and neglect. Polish culture

PORTAGE | The beginners' Polish language session and general meeting will be at 5 p.m at the Portage branch of the Porter County Public Library, 2665 Irving St. At 6 p.m., there will be a special presentation featuring Officer Wendell Hite and his partner Bolo of the Portage Police Department's K-9 Unit. Bolo is a German shepherd who was born in Poland and joined the Portage police force in May 2013. Hite will discuss how Bolo came to America and how they work together to keep the community safe. Free Beginners Yoga

The Magic of Music in World War II

PORTAGE | The Magic of Music in World War II will be presented at 1:30 p.m. at Rittenhouse Senior Living of Portage, 6235 Sterling Creek Road, 6235 Sterling Creek Road. The presentation is about World War II and how music won the war for us. Participants will listen to audio tapes and view videos of some of the top vocalist and bandleaders of the greatest generation. This will be presented by John Ban. Call (219) 764-2900.
