Porter Regional Hospital once again sought to honor one of its nurses through its annual Patient Choice Award program. The prestigious award recognizes the level of quality care, comfort and compassion offered by nurses each day.
This year, Porter Regional Hospital is pleased to announce that ICU Nurse Bev Holesinger, RN, is the 2013 Patient Choice Award winner. Holesinger was recognized with a cash prize and surprise reception (pictured above).
"I feel very humbled and honored at being nominated. The reason I went into nursing was to work with and care for people. Receiving a letter stating that I touched a family's life brings me great joy," said Holesinger. "I work with a great team of people and feel like this reflects on all of our efforts in ICU." Holesinger began her career at Porter in 1984 and will be celebrating her 30th anniversary in ICU this coming year.
Over the past few years, the hospital has received hundreds of letters from former patients and family members who wanted to nominate an exceptional nurse who directly impacted their lives with outstanding care.
“We feel it is significant to annually ask patients and their family members to provide us with the nominations because they see the little things that matter so much on a very personal level,” said Porter Health Care System CEO Jonathan Nalli.
Porter Health Care System has two hospital campuses and seven outpatient facilities serving Porter, Lake, LaPorte, Starke, Newton and Jasper counties.
