VALPARAISO | The public is invited to view the new HealthLinc Valparaiso Clinic from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, a day before local dignitaries hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the site.
Sunday’s event at 1001 Sturdy Road will offer free food, a scavenger hunt, a magician, DJ, Zumba demonstration and a Wii giveaway.
Tours of the community health care facility will be given, and participants can learn more about HealthLinc’s services.
The official opening to patients is July 8. Officials said the new clinic will accommodate the growing number of residents who are turning to HealthLinc for affordable health care services.
“We have seen the number of patients grow from 997 in 2006 to almost 5,600 in 2012,” HealthLinc CEO Beth Wrobel said in a statement. “The new larger facility, which will be able to serve an additional 6,000 patients, was made possible by a $5 million capacity-building grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration.”
In addition to primary and preventive medical, dental and behavioral health services, health and wellness education, chronic disease management, women’s and men’s health services, wellness checks, immunizations and optometry services will be added at the new site.
